American Idol 10 Finals: Round of 8 Results

So everyone thinks Paul is going home… personally, I’m betting on Haley… as the opening montage reminds us that THEY ALL START SOMEWHERE (in the style of a movie trailer)… live on DVR (as always, I haven’t watched spoilers before doing the blog)… will another girl be eliminated… TONIGHT~!?

Seacrest doesn’t quite get his grand entrance tonight as the judges take their time coming off stage… he hypes 53 million votes (from a dozen tweens in East Lansing, MI)… and it’s Small Group Performance night… starting with another country duet…

Scotty and Lauren open with Lady Antebellum’s hit “American Honey”.  I have no doubt we’ll see this combination in Nashville doing a duet for country radio before the end of the year… I think I’d like to hear them do this as a full single… first results, after the…

Back with a montage of the Idols doing the Ford video shoot as monsters?  Backstage video first, then the actual Pointless Ford Video, to “Animal”.

No results yet… we have another performance…

Haley and Casey perform “Moanin’” (a jazz track dating back to 1958?).  Weren’t there rumors about these two…? Smile  They do seem to have a bit of chemistry onstage… where was this performance from either of them last night?

They stay at center stage, and are joined by the first duo for results… dim the lights, here we go…

  • After the recap of the judges’ critiques that we all heard last night… we start by sending Scotty back to the couches – he’s safe.
  • Next… one of the three remaining is in the Bottom Three.  It’s not Lauren, she’s safe.
  • So it’s Haley *or* Casey… Haley is in the Bottom Three.  Casey is safe.  It’s Haley’s third trip to the Danger Zone.

Back to a pointless bit of filler with Rob Reiner talking about movie music.  Fast forwarding… then it’s Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson doing their duet, “Don’t You Wanna Stay”.  I have this on my iPod, so it’s time to FF past this and through the…

Jacob, Paul, Stefano, and Jämes do “The Sound of Silence” and “Mrs. Robinson” (from The Graduate, natch) knowing that two of them are heading to the Bottom Three… dim the lights… here we go…

  • As always, Seacrest recaps the judges’ critiques from last night… first, going to the couches is Jämes, as he’s safe tonight.
  • Next… Stefano joins Haley in the Bottom Three.  It’s his third trip.
  • Jacob and Paul remain.  Paul goes to the Bottom Three again (second trip).  Jacob is safe.
  • Your Bottom Three is Haley, Stefano, and Paul.  I stand by my prediction.  So does the blogiverse, I’m sure…

We return to Rihanna doing her new single “California King”.  I’ll come back to this after the results… Smile Fast forward to…

We’re back, with your Bottom Three on stage… dim the lights, here we go…

  • Up first… Haley follows in the footsteps… of Lauren and the other survivors.  She’s safe, and a guy is going home tonight.  Oh, and I’m wrong again. Smile
  • It’s over for… Paul.  VFTW loss.  Stefano is safe.
  • Paul gets the montage… and then sings us off with “Maggie May”.

The final 7 are back on Wednesday night.  See you then.

P.S. Took me 20 minutes to watch the show on fast-forward.  Really, guys… think about a 30-minute results show next year.  Just double the ad rates. Smile
