Sunday night wandering thoughts

U-C-L-A?  O-U-C-H! So VCU drew UCLA in the NCAA Basketball Tournament.  On the one hand, if VCU plays its best game, this is winnable.  On the other hand, UCLA has to have a chip on their shoulder after their unexpected elimination from the Pac-1o tournament.  On the other other hand, VCU just has to drive up I-95 to the CoreStates First Union Wachovia Wells Fargo Center, while UCLA has to come east from… um… LA.  🙂  I’m leaning toward picking VCU.  Oh, and if I had to guess right now, I’d plan on a 9:40 PM game time on Thursday night (so the game airs in primetime in LA).  That’d mean a 9:00 or 9:15 PM pre-game on 107.3 BBT.

When Promotions Go Awry The Renegades did their annual wiener-dog race tonight after the first period of their 6-3 win over Twin City… well, “race” may not be the word for it.  There were 8 dogs entered.  The rules were that the dogs had to race from goal line to goal line.  Someone forgot to tell the dogs.  When the dogs’ handlers put them on the ice to start the race, two turned around and ran back to the locker room, one started jumping on Renegades’ owner Allan Harvie’s leg, two stood and shivered, and one dropped to the ice and cowered after being shoved almost to the faceoff circle.  The rule that the owners couldn’t run with the dogs was quickly abandoned, and two owners cajoled, yelled, and threw enough treats to get their dogs to the other end of the ice.  The sight of 8 wiener-dogs running in 10 different directions may have been the funniest thing I’ve seen in months.  I couldn’t stop laughing until well into the second period.

AI goes country Oh my… I can’t wait to see what atrocities are visited on the Grand Old Opry catalog Tuesday night on American Idol.  There are about two singers who’ll be comfortable with country (Michael Sarver and Kris Allen), and the rest… does anyone want to imagine Anoop Desai or Adam Lambert doing country?  It’ll be a Vote For The Worst rout…

As to me, personally?  Just fine right now, thanks for asking. 🙂
