So I guess, as a wrestling fan and occasional ring announcer, I should say something about Vince McMahon’s latest desperate attempt to position his promotion as “entertainment” rather than “wrestling”.
Yes, his ongoing “faked his own death” storyline (I’m sorry, but that’s the only way this can end) that kicked off in the wake of two real wrestling-related deaths (Jeff Jarrett’s wife Jill dying of cancer, and then Sherri Martel’s mysterious death last weekend)… while he’s playing “dead” (and running the company from his “grave”), reality jumps up and gets in the way.
It’ll be interesting to see how WWE spins McMahon’s purchase of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame… dead man walking, anyone?
Playing catch up…
– The incredible shifting Weird Al show shifted again. If you want to see the Kings Dominion — um — Rocky Mount show, it moved again. Now the August 5 date is at the Progress Energy Auditorium in Raleigh. Maybe. That date isn’t on the venue’s website yet. 🙂
– And the usual end-of-week reminder that I’ll be on the radio this weekend. See you there. 🙂
