Another day in the life

Found out that my uncle — my dad’s brother — died a few weeks ago. We found out now because he left instructions that my side of the family wasn’t to be told of his death… but one of my cousins decided that was ridiculous and called my dad and let him know. I could go into the bitter relationship my uncle and my dad had, but it gets kind of long and convoluted.

What bothers me is that I haven’t felt anything. OK, so I haven’t seen the man in almost 15 years, but still, he’s my uncle. And there’s no reaction at all… I mean, it bothered me more to hear that Richard Pryor was dead than to hear my uncle was dead. That’s not right… is it?

OK, enough seriousness.

I’m on the radio (Oldies 107.3 — 107.3 FM Richmond, 100.3 FM Petersburg) today from 12-5.

And Komic Sutra plays tonight at the Funny Bone at 9:30. You should go. Really. If for no other reason than to see me in the crowd. So go.
