Got to the radio station today, and I started surfing the web getting material for the show when a headline jumped out at me — “Scholar-Athlete Jessica Beck dead at 21”.

Jessica Beck’s dad is 93.1 the Wolf program director Jeff Beck — someone I’ve worked with (and, at times, for) for the last year and a half at Main Line.

It’s awful when someone that young dies.

It’s more awful when someone that young who was so full of life and promise dies.

It’s even more awful when the parents are caring people who really participate in their kids’ lives.

Jessica was going to be someone special. What a shame…

And no parent should have to bury a child. My thoughts are with the Becks today…
